Theresa Wohlfarth has been named Global Connections to Employment (GCE) Team Member of the Year.
From a young age, Theresa has demonstrated a strong work ethic and a determination to overcome obstacles. As a child, her disability made school challenging. Although she completed all her high school coursework, she struggled with standardized tests. Despite her hard work and efforts, she received a certificate of attendance rather than a diploma upon completing high school.
In 2009, after being laid off from her job, Theresa made the decision to return to her education and pursue her high school diploma. She studied for hours on end and attempted the standardized test many times until she passed and earned her diploma.
Theresa began her career with GCE in May 2012 as a mail clerk at the Official Mail Center (OMC) on Eglin Air Force Base. Throughout almost 14 years with the company, she has received several promotions ranging from shift leader to supervisor and operations manager. She now serves as Project Manager at the OMC.
The OMC functions as a post office for the base, accepting incoming mail and allowing for the shipment of outgoing mail so members of the military can receive both personal and classified mail. Theresa and her team play a critical role in military communication, ensuring that military personnel receive important information in a timely manner.
For Theresa, caring for the military is personal, as her father was a Vietnam veteran, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law served in the U.S. Air Force. She is passionate about customer service and makes sure that everyone who enters the OMC has a positive experience.
“Theresa’s customer service is second to none. Her professionalism and creativity make the OMC a welcoming and positive space, often noted by customer feedback and site visits,” said Pam Aman, senior director of operations. “From the atmosphere she creates to her commitment to excellence, Theresa ensures that every customer interaction is handled with care and leaves a lasting positive impression.”
As project manager, Theresa leads a team that runs mail routes, helps in the mail room and assists customers in locating and sending mail. She cares a great deal about her team, celebrating everything from work milestones to holidays and their birthdays.
“My favorite part of my job is helping the customers and being there for my team,” said Theresa.
Senior Director of Government Affairs and Advocacy Lori Kain echoed Theresa’s dedication, saying “she makes an effort to go above and beyond all the time. She takes a personal approach to everything she does.”
Whether she is helping her team in the mail room or out on a mailing route, Theresa’s dedication to her team and her customers shines. Her commitment and embodiment of GCE’s mission and values are what made her GCE’s Team Member of the Year.
