Growing professionally: Gregory Enyeart

Gregory Enyeart learned from his grandfather, “Never say you can’t do something.” Now, Gregory lives that mantra every day in his role at Global Connections to Employment (GCE).

Growing up, Gregory underwent five major surgeries, leading to many missed school days and the feeling he was falling behind. Despite the physical toll and emotional weight of being unsure of his place or potential, his grit and heart kept him moving forward, shaping a journey of purpose and resilience.

Then he started working with GCE in 2018, washing dishes as a food service worker. Gregory’s shift leaders encouraged and inspired him to grow with GCE. His desire to learn and take on more responsibility led him to become a cashier then scullery leader before being promoted to shift leader.

Gregory is currently shift leader III on GCE’s food services contract at NAS Pensacola Corry Station.

“I’ve found my purpose,” said Gregory.

His supervisor, Benny Carollo, praised Gregory for volunteering to work multiple times on his days off when other shift leaders are unable to come in.

“Gregory has developed an excellent rapport with the team members, and they give him the utmost respect,” said Benny. “His leadership has made the shift run more smoothly and improved morale in turn.  When there are hiccups with an employee calling out, Gregory is quick to jump in and never miss a beat to make sure the end result is as expected.”

He dreams of being a manager one day, so Gregory is an active member of his building’s Safety Action Team, where he has gained insight on how to improve the workplace and increase safety awareness for all team members.

Gregory is also working towards learning more about cooking and food preparation. “To be a leader, I believe it’s important to understand all aspects of my team’s needs and know what people are dealing with on a daily basis.”

Benny noted that Gregory always puts “the team and GCE first whenever needed. He genuinely cares about the success of GCE in meetings contract requirements. He goes above and beyond to make sure they are met.”

“GCE is a family,” said Gregory. “I’m proud to be part of that family.” Through every challenge, Gregory’s commitment to his team and community continues to inspire, proving that purpose can transform any obstacle into opportunity.
