Pensacola, Fla. (Oct. 6, 2022) – Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson presented the 2022 NDEAM proclamation to GCE. NDEAM stands for National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Northwest Florida is home to GCE, one of the country’s largest private employers of persons with disabilities. The community kicked off NDEAM celebrations with Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson and other local officials.
Approximately 372 people who have a disability work for GCE in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties at 16 sites. About 1,427 people work at contract sites in the country.
NDEAM proclamation
The NDEAM proclamation supports the essential roles that people with disabilities provide are creating a high demand for talent. This year’s NDEAM theme is “Disability: Part of the Equity Equation.” Observed in October, NDEAM celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. That includes both past and present, helping to ensure a diverse and inclusive American workforce.
During October, GCE will host events to celebrate teams at work sites across the nation. Celebrations will be held at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Eglin Air Force Base, and LifeView Group. GCE employees will be recognized and they will enjoy picnics and camaraderie at their work sites.
