Mayor Robinson presents proclamation to GCE team members

Pensacola, Fla. (Oct. 6, 2022) – Northwest Florida is home to one of the country’s largest private employers of persons with disabilities. Global Connections to Employment (GCE) kicked off celebrations of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) with a proclamation from Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson.

Approximately 372 Northwest Florida community members who have a disability work for GCE in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties at 16 sites. About 1,427 people work at contract sites in the country.

The essential roles that people with disabilities provide are creating a high demand for talent. This year’s NDEAM theme is “Disability: Part of the Equity Equation.” Observed annually in October, NDEAM celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities, both past and present, to a diverse and inclusive American workforce.

During October, GCE will host events to celebrate teams at work sites across the nation. Locally, picnics and celebrations will be held at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Eglin Air Force Base, and LifeView Group, where GCE employees work.
